It's a travelogue set in the jungles of Borneo. The monkeys don't show up until almost halfway through it, and then are on display for only a minute or two. The rest of this one-reel movie is spent looking at the river, the jungle on the shore, and the natives -- dayaks, they're called. We're informed that the Muslims are converting vast numbers of people; today, Indonesia is considered the most populous Islamic nation.
Travelogues like this one made up a goodly part of film programs -- the 'selected short subjects' that accompanied the centerpiece feature film. Travelogues might cover the humdrum towns of New England, or the most exotic of locales, like this one. In an era when the movies might bring the world to your local theater, there's no saying where you might end up.
