The paintings on display at Christie's auction house, and seen throughout this and subsequent episodes, are by George Stubbs (1724-1806), an English painter who often painted scenes of horses being attacked by lions. Phoebe mentions his name when she says to Jack, "I'm sorry your friend wasn't pleased with the Stubbs".
