- Jeetendra Kumar Makwana/Jimmy Cliff (Saif Ali Khan) is a call center executive who also teaches English with an accent to call center employees, so they can effectively communicate with their overseas customers. Jimmy is a ladies' man and uses his English classes to pick up hot girls for dates.
Pooja Singh (Kareena Kapoor) shows up outside his class and says she needs private tutoring. Without any hesitation, Jimmy quickly agrees as he has already fallen in love with her; he later finds out that Pooja's boss Lakhan Singh Ballebaaz a.k.a. Bhaiyyaji (Anil Kapoor) is the one who must be tutored. Bhaiyyaji says that he is hosting a foreign delegation in 3 months and wants his English to be better by then. Balakram (Sanjay Mishra) and Pintu (Manoj Pahwa) are Bhaiyyaji's sidekicks.
As their love grows, Pooja reveals that she is only working for Bhaiyyaji to pay her debts so she can then go to Haridwar to scatter her father's ashes. She says that she has been working for Bhaiyyaji since she was 16 years old, and every month a part of her salary is deducted, but just the interest part has reached Rs 1.5 Crores.
Pooja is a trusted worker for Bhaiyyaji and handles large amounts of cash for him. She tells Jimmy that Bhaiyyaji owns 20 restaurants in UP and all of the cash flow comes to Mumbai, which she aggregates and deposits in the bank. She also tells Jimmy that Bhaiyyaji has proposed marriage to her in exchange for writing all her debts off, including the interest outstanding. And when Pooja pushes back, Bhaiyyaji hails abuses on her (something that Jimmy witnesses).
They decide to steal Bhaiyyaji's money and run away. That month's collection from UP was around 25 Crores, which was an unusually high amount. The couple succeeds in their mission, and Jimmy asks Pooja to guard the money while he goes to the call center to tell them he is leaving.
ACP Kuldeep Singh Hooda (Yashpal Sharma) is a police officer who is investigating leak of personal and confidential information of customers from Jimmy's call center. Jimmy realizes that the numbers he had shared with Pooja were used by Bhaiyyaji to make extortion calls. Kuldeep knows that Bhaiyyaji made the extortion calls.
At the call center, Jimmy learns from Kuldeep that Bhaiyyaji is a maverick gangster from UP who enjoys killing people and goes home to warn Pooja. Unexpectedly, Pooja has run away with all the money, and she meets a bank manager to deposit the money in bank locker. He initially disagrees and Pooja puts her hands inside his pocket, and he agrees. Meanwhile, Bhaiyyaji believes that Jimmy stole his money.
Bhaiyyaji hires Bachchan Pandey (Akshay Kumar), a gangster, to catch Jimmy. Bachchan idolizes Bhaiyyaji as Bhaiyyaji used to be the original don in Kanpur and every wannabe gangster in Kanpur wants to be inducted into his gang. Bachchan is the most notorious recovery agent in Kanpur and Bhaiyyaji wants him to recover his money from Jimmy.
Bhayyaji used to drive rickshaw for the Kanpur don Vikram Tiger, but one day Vikram Tiger is attacked while in Bhaiyyaji's rickshaw. Despite Bhaiyyaji's efforts, Vikram is killed and Bhaiyyaji makes away with his gold bars (which Vikram was transporting in the Rickshaw).
Bhaiyyaji tells Bachchan that he already has Jimmy in his custody. After surrendering to Bhaiyyaji, Jimmy admits that Pooja took off with all the money and is perhaps in Haridwar to scatter her dad's ashes. Jimmy and Bachchan head towards Haridwar to find Pooja and recover Bhaiyyaji's money. Jimmy admits to Bachchan that he is in love with Pooja and stole the money from Bhaiyyaji for her sake. Bachchan reveals that he had published a missing persons ad in the newspaper for Pooja, which a generous reward of Rs 10 Lakhs. When they reach there, Pooja sees them and runs away. Unable to find Pooja there, Jimmy and Bachchan set off to find her again. While on the road, the duo get into a silly fight about the radio station and their car falls into the water.
Along with Jimmy and Bachchan, Pooja comes out of the water too. She had been hiding in their trunk the whole time. She tells them that she has hidden the money in seven different places across India. Pooja gets some time to dry her clothes and during that period she asks Jimmy to start over. Jimmy and Pooja decide to run away with the money.
The duo decide that Pooja should seduce Bachchan just like she did Jimmy. She tries to seduce him but finds out that they are each other's childhood loves, and they both fall in love. After recovering all the money, Bhaiyyaji orders Bachchan to kill Jimmy and bring Pooja to her so that Bhaiyyaji can marry her. Bachchan can't do either.
Bachchan decides to leave for Bhaiyyaji's with the money (and asking Pooja and Jimmy to run away together), not knowing that Jimmy has replaced the money with stones. Meanwhile, Jimmy doesn't know that Pooja and Bachchan are truly in love.
When Pooja realizes what he has done, she tells Jimmy the truth about Bhaiyyaji killing her father. Pooja finally reveals that she is Vikram Tiger's daughter and saw with her own eyes that he was murdered by Bhaiyyaji by being stabbed in the back and robbed for his gold bars.
To save Bachchan, Pooja and Jimmy head to Bhaiyyaji's lair with the money. When they get there, Jimmy pretends to betray Pooja and slaps Bachchan. He tells Bhaiyyaji to give him his gun so that he can kill Bachchan. After getting the gun, Jimmy instead points it to Bhaiyyaji and takes him hostage. He heads towards a car with Pooja and Bachchan following him. Surrounded by Bhaiyyaji's henchmen with guns, Bhaiyyaji manages to jump out of the car, and everybody begins shooting at them. After a lengthy fight scene, Bhaiyyaji is killed by Pooja who stabs him with a knife.
In the end, Jimmy opens up his own call center, where only girls work, and Bachchan and Pooja get married.
