- As Michael finalizes plans for the escape, his fellow plotters begin to turn on him. Meanwhile, Whistler ponders a betrayal when Sofia is threatened.
- Michael concludes that they are behind schedule and they have twenty-four hours to dig a tunnel. However, when it begins to rain, he tells the gang that they must change the plans and break-out during the night since the tunnel will collapse. McGrady asks Michael to go with him, but he is in doubt whether he should escape with criminals like Lechero, T-Bag, Bellick and the mysterious Whistler. Michael believes he is paying for his sins in Sona. Later he confesses that he is tired of causes and consequences and invites McGrady to join the break-out team. Gretchen delivers the bomb planted in her car to Sucre. Sofia is kidnapped by Gretchen's men and she tortures her to get the coordinates from Whistler. Bellick tries to plot a betrayal with Mahone, but he refuses. Michael calls the customer service of the emergency generator's manufacturer and discovers that they have just thirty seconds lag to reach the fence in the darkness. T-Bag overhears the conversation between Michael and Whistler when he tells that surviving is not giving-up. Sucre sabotages the jeeps, but he is detained since there are issues in the records of his fake identity, Jorge Rivera. Whistler gives only half coordinates for the safety of Sofia, L.J., Michael and Lincoln. Lincoln hijacks a bus and crashes it against Sona's transformer initiating the blackout. Lechero, T-Bag and Bellick betray the rest of fugitives telling that they will be the first to leave.—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- The brothers agree Michael will dig the tunnel at triple speed, in 24 hours, and Lincoln arranges a tower guard-diversion. Then it rains: the tunnel will be exposed and even collapse irreparably: they must complete it that very night. McGrady insists on going with Michael, who insists even prison is better for him and his loved ones then a life on the run. Mahone isn't tempted by Bellick's plan to deliver the others for trial back in the US. They try a concoction Michael invented to cover the tunnel tracks after the escape. By phone he instructs Sucre, now employed as the grave digger, to spy on the electric wiring. Sucre tells a suspicious Susan/Gretchen just the truth, she makes Linc hold the phone for Whistler to hear her burning Sophia as threat the coordinates must be finished that evening; Whistler tells Michael he now has the coordinates and will hand them over, refusing to buy time by offering fakes first, but when Susan turns up arrogantly at the visiting gate, Whistler tears the coordinates in two, half now, the other only after proof Sofia, L.J. and both brothers are safe. Now Michael offers McGrady a phone call and an escape spot. After ordering Lincoln to interrupt the power Michael tells the escapees they only have 30 seconds before the generator kicks in, Lechero, T-Bag and Bellick decide to run for it, while the others Michael and Whistler are last to run.
