Ana de la Reguera, Matthias Schweighöfer, Omari Hardwick, Dave Bautista, and Ella Purnell in Army of the Dead (2021)

Goofs

Army of the Dead

Edit

Continuity

In the beginning of the movie, the escaped zombie kills the last soldier from the convoy by biting into his neck. His neck spurts blood but by the time his body hits the ground, his neck has stopped bleeding.

Factual errors

Las Vegas is depicted as little more than the Strip surrounded by open desert. The rest of the city is basically absent.
Hand grenades do not explode with large balls of fire as seen in a few scenes during the zombie fights. They typically explode in a large cloud of dust, debris, and flying metal fragments.
One could not get a helicopter whose engine was on fire about an hour earlier, running and operational in such a short time and without replacement parts.
They know that noise attracts zombies, but not a single weapon has a silencer attached.
Dieter is shown cracking the safe by twiddling some little dials with his ear to the safe door. While this might work with cheap dinky little safes or older safes (from before the 1950s), it would never work with even a mildly sophisticated modern safe. It definitely would not work with what is described as a highly sophisticated safe.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

When Kate is trapped in the car by zombies, there's a skeleton inside. Unless the government waited over a year to deal with the zombie plague in the city, this corpse would not have had sufficient time to decompose.

However, when Scott and Kate are discussing him killing her (zombie) mother, she states "You think that's why I haven't been talking to you all these years?", implying that, in fact, several years have passed since the Las Vegas outbreak.
In the beginning of the movie when Bly offers the heist to Scott in the diner, he says Scott has 72 hours before the nuke is dropped on the city. He then tells Scott to think about it over overnight. He would then not have 72 hours.

(Bly) Tanaka-san actually mentions the bomb will drop in 96 hours.
When Dieter saves his colleague from, and dooms himself to die with the zombie, he throws his colleague what appears to be inside the safe (he closes the door from the outside). This would have doomed his colleague to prolonged death.

The safe protected Vanderohe from the blast, yet the blast also broke the safe open, allowing Vanderohe to escape.
It's unclear why there is so much devastation to the buildings. Las Vegas underwent a zombie epidemic, yet much of the city looks like it's survived a war zone.

The government dropped several bombs on the city.
The elevator, the vault, and vault traps all run on electricity. The US government would not have left Los Vegas on the power grid.

They started a generator, which in a casino is important to have and mostly would power everything.

Revealing mistakes

At the end of the movie when Marianne returns in the helicopter to save the others, the patch on her right should is reversed and upside down. Stars should be in the top right of the patch when worn on the right shoulder, top left (as 'normal')' when on the left shoulder. Again, it is also upside down.
When Vanderohe, Guzman and Dieter are in the vault, Vanderohe turns and heads to the elevator. As he passes the zombies that they killed when they came in, the zombie hands are fresh, not belonging to zombies that have been dead for years.

Plot holes

Tanakas bodyguard locks Chambers in a kitchen to betray her, she sees him doing this so knows he is dangerous and untrustworthy. She somehow escapes through a window to join her colleagues. She says nothing about the betrayal to her boyfriend and the others to warn them before dying when anyone would have called out to warn them.
Lilly takes the gas axe cutting tool to a concrete wall in order to make her escape. Even though the hatch lock would have been cut through much faster.
When Chambers escapes the kitchen to her boyfriend and colleagues, they all have guns but just all stand around and let her get attacked by the zombies. Only her boyfriend Mikey reacts, but this is after a huge pause for no reason when it is already too late.
200 million dollars, in $100 notes, weighs well over two tons and couldn't possibly be moved by the team in the manner depicted. It would also never fit, along with the members of the team, in the helicopter.
When Bly introduces the job to Scott, he says that there is $200 million in the vault that the insurance company has already reimbursed him for. If it is his vault, he would have the combination and there would have been no need for a safe-cracker.

Character error

Martin tells Lilly (The Coyote)"I'm gonna go kill that dumb*** pilot now that she fixed the chopper and fly myself out of here." then proceeds to go to the ground level and out the front doors of the casino, but the helicopter was on the roof and there was no reason for him to be going outside. And since Martin had knowledge of the casino, there was no way he'd be lost and accidentally wander outside.
A majority of the characters are shown to be experienced Zombie killing mercenaries, yet when they re-enter Las Vegas a number of them are wearing sleeveless tops exposing their arms with no Armour coverage at all. It is established that zombies will bite arms as shown throughout.
Knowing that the infection spreads by bites from the zombies, a prepared team would not go in a zombie mayhem wearing T-shirts, exposing their arms and necks, but most of them actually do and they die because of this. Most deaths could have been easily avoided if they geared of properly.
There was no need for Bly Tanaka's whole vault heist con job, if he had just sent Martin in with the Coyote, lopped off the Alpha Female Zombie's head, they could have waltzed back out with no one the wiser. There was need no for a helicopter or a Black Ops team, it was a two or three man job tops.
At 25:06, Scott Ward cracks a beer with a bottle opener when it is clearly a twist top.
