LONDON -- BBC Worldwide has poached the MTV executive responsible for Pimp My Ride U.K., one of the music channel's most successful shows, to take up the post of director of programming for global channels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
John Taite will be in charge of programming and scheduling strategies for all of BBC Worldwide's channels across those territories, reporting to BBC global channels senior vp Dean Possenniskie and head of programming David Weiland.
Currently director of scheduling and acquisitions for MTV Networks U.K. and Ireland, where he set up MTV's acquisitions department and introduced third-party content to the channels, Taite is credited with such shows as Pimp My Ride: U.K., which later sold to the Five channel, as well as Footballer's Cribs and Virgin Diaries.
Possenniskie said that Taite will bring "immense experience and expertise and I'm delighted that he is joining us in Global Channels at this time of unprecedented growth."...
