The swimming pool mosaic with Chrissy's design hits some practical difficulties, when the workmen prove to be indifferent to the precise colours defined. The dating-by-numbers service gets going, matching "Big Tel" with someone whose handwriting Gonch has difficulty reading - could it be "Maureen?" Helen has a talk with her career advisor, and is told she has to knuckle under to get a college place in order to get a chance in a career of Engineering. Interruptions from Trevor and Georgina don't help. Justine goes round for tea at Tegs's foster home: he is being well-treated, almost spoilt. After school, there are two people waiting for their respective dates at the bike sheds: Mauler and Big Tel. Matthew and Clarke find their nemesis tied to a lamppost and wait for its owner to collect the dog. When he arrives, they are astonished to see he is a vicar, but he gets on a bus before the duo can take action. Back at the bike sheds, the penny drops...
