- Kunzite probes Sailor V's connection with the Sailor Senshi by targeting Katarina, an old acquaintance of Minako's.
- Usagi, Ami, Makoto, Rei, and Luna have all gathered at the Game Center Crown to discuss their progress on finding a gateway into the Dark Kingdom. Thus far, none of them have been successful. Eventually, they find themselves wondering why Minako has not arrived yet. Artemis showed up and tells them that she went to see her friend visiting from England.
Minako is in a hotel room talking with a woman, Katarina, who she once thought of as her older sister. She asks her where she has been for the past few months and why she never contacted anyone. Minako is unresponsive, and finally leaves, clearly upset. Katarina could tell that it had something to do with Alan, her fiance. After she's gone, Kunzite appears, revealing that her has come to Tokyo as part of his plan. He found out about Katarina's connection to Sailor V and has decided to exploit it, feeling there may be an association between her and the other Sailor Senshi.
After leaving Katarina, Minako is standing by the river, looking at a picture of her and an older man, Alan, in London. After a moment, she begins to cry and holds the photo to her chest. Her grief is interrupted by Papillon, the Youma her friend has become. Minako transforms and gets attacked by Papillon. She is saved by Usagi, who uses her disguise pen to transform into a real sailor. The two of them then steal a boat and, along with Luna and Artemis, make their escape.
The pair hide out on cruise liner, where Sailor Venus tells Usagi about Katarina and her past as Sailor V. Some six months before, she traveled to London because of some Dark Kingdom activity in the area. Minako remembers how hard it was for her being in a new country, but that she had friends to get her through it. She helped Katarina, a member of Interpol, to save a child from a Youma as Sailor V, which was the start of their friendship. She helped her adjust to London by teaching her English and acting as an older sister. Minako also had Alan, an older man on whom she clearly was in love with. Eventually, Minako introduced Katarina and Alan, and the two clearly had an instant connection.
Sailor Venus recalls that it all ended when they were tracking down a criminal in a warehouse. Sailor V went in first to check if the building was safe, but was surprised by someone throwing a grenade at her. The building exploded and collapsed, leaving an injured Katarina to believe that she had been killed in the blast. However, Sailor V had just barely survived, managing to drag herself out to an alley nearby. She looked up and saw Katarina telling Alan what had happened, and the two of them embraced with him reassuring her that everything will be fine. In that moment, Minako realized that Alan and Katarina were more than friends. She decided it would be better for all of them if she simply faked her death so that they could be happy without her interfering.
Usagi is clearly moved by Minako's story. She is so upset, in fact, that when Papillon comes back to attack them, She transforms into Sailor Moon and has no interest in healing her, but rather kill her out of revenge. She is fully prepared to kill the Youma until the locket Papillon has been wearing falls to the ground. Sailor Venus picks it up and sees a picture of herself, with Alan and Katarina inside. She then begs Sailor Moon to heal her friend right away. Sailor Moon adamantly refuses by arguing with Sailor Venus that Katarina stole her boyfriend and that she took their friendship for granted, by hurting her in the end. She's convinced that she will pay for it with her life and has no qualms in killing her. However, Sailor Venus doesn't agree with Sailor Moon and tells that Alan chose Katarina as the love of his life and she didn't want to interfere with their relationship. She cites they didn't do anything wrong for loving each other and the only reason why she hurting her is because the Dark Kingdom is manipulating her since she knew her as Sailor V. Venus clearly mentions that Usagi is one whose wrong for her accusations against Katarina and having plans to kill her out of revenge. Sailor Moon stops for a moment and Venus makes her final plea to help heal her. Usagi reluctantly heals Katarina from her youma form and eventually realizes that her friend had been right about not killing her out of revenge. Then they embrace, with her apologizing for not realizing the extent of Minako's feelings sooner. She forgives Katarina and says that Alan loves her, not a young teenager like herself and boys will come and go.
Later, Minako stands on a pier holding the picture of her and Alan. The other girls watch nearby, unsure about what happened and want to help her out by lending their support for her, but Usagi refuses. When Ami, Rei and Makoto asked her why she doesn't want them help Minako out since she lost her boyfriend, Alan, to Katarina and she's going to need support from them in order for her to get over her heartbreak. Usagi simply, but wisely mentions that she's more mature than they are and she just needs her space. Minako thinks that maybe Katarina and him better off together then her trying to steal him away from her. After that, she releases the picture of herself and Alan, effectively letting go of her past.
