Shaky Armor
hellraiser727 October 2022
This episode is an honorable mention, this was another episode written by J Michael which is cool as he's one of my favorite script writers.

It's not exactly a new story as it's the guy's seduction and temptations to fall into the dark side. I always like that concept because this really test the spiritual side of the good guys. It's too bad this had to be the only episode for this to happen, but oh well. We all have causes to fight for, but the questions are what price you are willing to pay to succeed and is it worth it.

Really like it when Jayce dons the armor in a way he's sort of a mystical version of "Iron Man" as we see him just take out a group of monster minds with merely raising his own hand and burning them to ash. Jayce realize that with the power of armor he can't possibly lose however he may lose something a lot more valuable his own soul.

This mystical armor contains an entity that we see is constantly trying to seduce and tempt Jayce to both help him but in return to bring its own plans for conquest into fruition. But we see that his friends are the obstacle that stands in its way and like with any obstacle he must clear them permanently. If he bows to the armor, he will possibly win the war soon, but will it be worth the cost.

The only problems I have with this episode that hold it back for me is that they didn't go further with this concept. I would have liked seeing how the armor effected Jayce psychologically more, this would of given Jayce more struggle as dons the helmet more he shows signs of losing his humanity as he turns on his friends.

Another is there isn't enough of a payoff, as we see Jayce's transformation complete, we don't get to see a showdown where his friends tussle with him and it would mean his friends would have to struggle as they have the dilemma of saving Jayce or having to kill him to save themselves and countless others if the evil armor has its way. The fact neither of these things happened meant two big lost opportunities. Though this probably couldn't be possible due to the short time span of the episode so, I can sort of let this slide.

Having power and the most powerful weapon doesn't make one truly powerful and power is never real armor.

Rating: 3 stars.
