The Goldberg (Bill Goldberg)-Lord Steven Regal (Darren Matthews) has been incorrectly referred to online as a "shoot" (that is, a real event that was not planned) and that it was why WCW fired Regal. In their respective autobiographies, "I'm Next" and "Walking A Golden Mile," they confirm that what actually happened. They had put together a particular move sequence before the match, as Regal was unsure what to do against Goldberg, because of how most of Goldberg's matches to that point had been quick squashes that lasted, at the most, two minutes. Somewhere in the match, Goldberg forgot part of the move sequence so Regal did what he did to help Goldberg remember the sequence. Regal has said that it was not a shoot and that he would never shoot on an opponent. WCW fired Regal sometime later due to his drug/alcohol issues, which would also cause WWE to fire Regal that November.
