Plot

After failing to assassinate suave Solomon, one of Diva's top servants or Chevaliers, the hooded vampires go after another Chevalier - Saya's, hoping that his blood will set them free.

Eight Schiff remain, now that Solomon has killed two of them. The Schiff hold a meeting in a cemetery to discuss their next move. As Moses and Karman argue and Guy stares at the moon, Irene listens for Saya. Saya has gone south, she tells the group, but too far south to tell exactly where Saya is at. The Schiff decide to head south so, one by one, they fly towards the moon.

Arjano calls Solomon from Iceland to report that he thinks the Goldsmiths may have been conducting cloning experiments at the Iceland facility but that there was some kind of accident and now there is nothing left. Talking with the locals, Arjano has also learned that the bodies carried out after the accident were totally drained of blood.

In France, Mao and Okamura were heading toward Chateau Duel when their car died. Okamura walks up the road to see if he can get some water at a farmhouse. Daydreaming about Kai while awaiting Okamura's return, Mao hears a car drive up behind hers. It is driven by Solomon, who decides that he can't wait for Mao to get it started, so he drives up and around the slope. Only after he is gone does Mao recognize him as the CEO of Cinq Flèches.

When Okamura finally gets the car started, they head for the winery. Mao notices that the picture of the chateau on the wine label does not match the Cinq Flèches chateau, and the keeper explains that the original winery, the one pictured on the label, lies across the valley on the other side of the hill. About 100 years ago, the old chateau, which was then owned by Joel Goldschmidt, caught fire and everyone was killed, so they rebuilt the chateau in this new location. The strange thing about the fire is that everyone killed in fire was rumored to be already dead, and their bodies were totally drained of blood. Another strange thing, he adds, was that his own grandfather visited the ruins after the fire and saw a young girl singing and carrying a blue rose.

Haji and Saya have been walking for most of the day, and Saya is getting weaker. When she suddenly collapses in Haji's arms, he tries to feed her on his blood, knowing that she needs blood to survive, but Saya refuses. As night falls, they find themselves surrounded by the Schiff, who are after Saya and Haji's blood. The Schiff are vampires, soulless, and unable to stand the sunlight. They are hoping that either chevalier blood or Saya's blood will cure them of the Thorn stigma, a disease that causes their bodies to crystallize.

Haji quickly carries Saya away and hides her in a cave then goes back to fight the Schiff, first giving Saya her sword and telling her that he may not survive to protect her. A fight breaks out between Haji and the Schiff. They run a sword through Haji's body but still he continues to fight. Guy impales Haji against a tree and drinks some of his blood. When chevalier blood doesn't do what Guy hopes it will do, that is, cure him of the Thorn that has been developing on his body since the last full moon, the Schiff turn to Saya. Unfortunately for them, just as they are about to try Saya's blood, the sun peeks over the horizon and they are forced to make a speedy retreat. Saya lies passed out on the ground. Haji frees himself from the swords and knives that hold him to the tree and trickles some of his blood into Saya's mouth. The Schiff take Guy to the cemetery and lay him on a stone slab. As the sun comes up, Guy's body explodes into a green flame and is consumed.
