However, in the dialect of Ancient shared by the Alterens and the Ori, the word for 'origin', which also means 'truth', could easily be 7 letters long. It had been revealed earlier (at around 16 mins) that the ancient word for truth is 'verimas' similar to the Latin 'veritas'.

However, based upon her line of sight, she couldn't have known the last 3 symbols. So there would be no way of opening the ark.
Teal'c tells Tomin "You will never achieve personal retribution." However retribution means vengeance or revenge. Tomin wants redemption (forgiveness), not revenge on himself. If he wanted revenge on himself, he could easily walk out an air-lock into the vacuum of space.
