Talented architect Stef fails to enter for a major competition, suffering an allergic shock while driving. ER finds he was bitten by a tarantula, which Hans does not enjoy catching in his abandoned car, even fears in Wolle's care at the Hamburg port precinct. Stef's clingy mother first suggest it was planted by a business rival, later it was meant to scare her out of the family home. Former colleague Niklas Reitmüller left Bloomberg's firm, but remains a friend. Temporarily homeless Mattes hastily left patrol partner Melanie's place, due to her jealousy over his girl guests, who fail to volunteer as host, Wolle find mediating hard.

Albanian mob-connected businessman Gor Kassabian is shot, but survives. Mattes and Melanie follow the unidentified shooter's trail to small island Neuwerk, lose him there and must spend the night in a single inn room. Flight car owner Bernhard Buttfanger's niece Femke trades jewelry made from the local specialty, amber, in her non-lucrative petty shop, Kassabian is a major client but neither dares testify against the mobster. Dodgy tramp Ollo Bornkamp brings acquainted Hans Kassabian's cellphone. Mattes also looks into Femke's brother Hark Buttfanger and stumbles upon counterfeiting.

Mattes needs junk-food bait to lure Linus Ulmke out and take him to the precinct, where 'grandfatherly' Wolle -also the name of his cuddly toy, meaning 'wool' in German- bonds with the cute, bright rascal, who still ends up escaping trough the bathroom window. Tarik meanwhile found a beaten-up man who was dumped on a dock, only robbed for appearances, who is hospitalized and identified as Linus's father, bank 'premium account' investment advisor Sebastian Ulmke. He made enemies by losing peoples savings, as in the case of violent ex-con Roman Täuber, who even lost his home. But prime client Josef Adamski, a shipping company multimillionaire, proves key.

Nils Steinbach was beaten badly in front of his home after a fight with wife Jessica but makes contradictory declarations when questioned in hospital, as if terrorized. Nils was previously convicted for abuse of his first wife , but explains what really happened. Jessica's brother Frank Wittek or teenage-son Yannick, who claims to have seen nothing, may have fought off the stepfather, while the biological father recently returned from abroad, subject to a restraining order having been convicted years ago for abuse, hoping to contact his growing-up boy, so far in vain. Tarik can't concentrate on the job, having been told in front of the curious precinct by his ex Pauline she's expecting his baby. Finding the hidden statue used to beat Nils Steinbach in his home helps untangling the family drama.

Notoriously wayward Schiller gymnasium (high school) pupil René Marwort, who rebels against his overbearing parents, files an abuse complaint against his old-school math teacher who ear-boxed for insolence and class vandalism, but nobody believes Udo Ahlmann is responsible for his black-eye, as René maintains. Shortly after, the knave is hospitalized after a bad fall on his motorcycle, the breaks being tampered with, and again René improbably accuses the teacher. René's ex-girl fears, dumping him aiming for his best classmate Ruben Sievers turned René suicidal. Ruben however never committed to her. Some school vandal painted 'R+J' in a heart at school. A note in René's motorcycle "I blow your cover" inspires alternative motive theories, involving unconventionally concerned language teacher Jette Lürsen. The precinct meanwhile buzzes about Tarik resolving to offer an heirloom wedding ring to Pauline, the mother of his newborn son whom he barely knows.

Hans celebrates his impending promotion with pay rise first in the precinct, then with his daughter Nelly, insisting to finance her studies, so she resigns her waitress job. Walking home after a celebratory dinner, they are attacked by two young men, when of which grabs panicking and Nelly. Overprotective, tipsy Hans not only scares away the assailant, but beats his mate, who tried only to drag them apart, unconscious into hospital. Hans's colleagues start both a search for the other youngster and a formal investigation of his conduct, which looks nasty after Nelly's former boss's accidental witness observations describe him disproportionately violent. The victim, Jannik Lennarz, is a promising football (soccer) player and seems to have lasting breathing trouble. Nelly's mother Marion hails 'hero' Hans, the girls accidentally spots and follows the escaped thug, which gets her into acute problems, but Tariq steps in timely to save her and Hans, who ignored his suspension to go after mug shot-identified Marcel Greifswald, from themselves.

Tarik dislikes even more then Claudia the assignment to assist Immigration officer Bernd Dillinger in the court-ordered deportation home of Colombian Eva Escobar who lived 14 years illegally in Germany with teen daughter Isabella. Tarik's open sympathy infuriates Dillinger even before. Eva Escobar faints and Isabella escapes trough the window, without access to diabetes medication. Disgraced Hans isn't amused having to join the search with his imposed nosy new partner during Franci's maternity leave, adopted Vietnamese Alexa Seifart. The Escobar's social counselor is mounting a petition, the team finds dirt on Bernd helped by Isabella's class boyfriend Sören.

The plot thickens when the thieving knave is found in an adjoining room and a blackmail threat over his cellphone from dodgy dealer Kemal suggests a dark family secret, which they'll go at great lengths to guard.

All points to improperly monitored diet pills, which her mother Kerstin Schneider can't believe. Nurse Frauke finds in Lola's bag a business card from the dodgy medical institute run by doc Jasmin's ruthlessly ambitious former college mate Dr. Sabrina Matschewski, who denies prescribing them, being part of a scientific test program, and refuses to cooperate. Fat Frauke intrudes as undercover patient, but another key is closer to Lola's life.

Torben Manstein, who moved back in with his psychiatrist mother Gertrud, is shortly arrested by Mattes and Melanie as his mean divorced wife Ariane Petri called the police for 'custody breach' when he demands to shortly speak at her home their five year-old daughter Lucie, who misses him. Ariane is shortly after hospitalized, unconscious with a dubious medicinal cocktail including Benzodiazepin and claims it's a setup by Torben, who finally obtains temporary custody by court order. Lucie can't handle the strife and runs away and Mattes finds the real drug monger.

He and Melanie investigate the non-fatal alleged hit and run of the daughter( 8) of a careless mother, who failed even to notice her rushing on the street after a doll-bag from Christian Quas's deli. The owner of the presumed hit car is found beaten up in need of hospital. While Finja accidentally prevents mates catching his assailant, the team works on the theories of an ex staking the mother and false testimonies from Quas and his local regular to 'avenge' his own son's hit and run car death years ago.

Introducing at night a railway building to spray graffiti, Lukas Sonntag falls from a ladder and incurs a dangerous electric shock, but is saved in ER. Mattes and Melanie find the secret codes of graffiti imply artist rivalry as possible motive, after convincing Lukas' leg-plastered buddy Philipp Peters, who stood guard but noticed no culprit, explains and even helps set a trap. It proves dangerous, also for Hans, who objected to experienced but out of practice Wolle as partner, yet he saves gas-poisoned Hans thanks to though research. Mattes finds last-minute that Lukas's bluntly neglectful selfish mother Esther and haughty girl friend Ava Schulte are the root cause of a tragic, devious plan coming to a fatal climax.

Some of it was used ineptly, causing facial damaging requiring ER help for Julia Schöne, and shortly after engineer Ewald Hofer's initially missing-reported wife Anna, whom it poisoned seriously. While Mattes finds the incompetent, unqualified 'beautician', nobody dares come forward, Hans painstakingly probes for suspiciously knowledgeable Alexa's own experience in Dr. Winkelmann's field.

Sven Wiebel objects by all means to a (definitely correct) speeding ticket from Alexa Seifart, suggesting when can buy one's way out in the neighboring precinct from Achim Seebens, who firmly denies so when Mattes is after him and Haller after his counterpart there, Jochen Braumeister. Sven's resistance to a search ends in his kid son Marten being hit by a car, but saved in ER. Sven's construction firm is in dire trouble, forcing him to desperate fraud. Alexa confronts him alone, pathologically insensitive as ever, almost leading to a shooting, inspiring her to resign from field duty, to asocial to accept a farewell drink.

Those include his daughter Nora, his former partner in crime, his fired employee who is now Nora's romantic partner.

Artistic photographer Georg Ellerback was robbed and badly beaten at home at night, found b y an observant flat neighbor, but can't recall what happened, being drugged, his motorbike was wrecked and dumped. All suspects seem to have alibis. Disgruntled client Dennis Schleif claims Georg stole his pictures. Gallery keeper Roberta Schiller was jealous of his fiancee Kati Steinmann, who may have found out too as he had a girl in every exposition town and becomes the next target while the plot thickens.
