A first rate episode.

The concluding part of The Blind Beggar is a fantastic episode, it wraps up a fantastic story, and it also gives us a huge insight into Peter Boyd, his motives and the reasons for his short temper. As for wrapping the story of the body in the crypt and the murder of Father Stewart, the episode delivers the goods, it's perhaps not a huge mystery, but the delivery was superb, Annette Crosbie put in a great performance post One Foot in the Grave. Perhaps more importantly is the character development of Peter Boyd, two scenes stood out, the first where Boyd sits with James and discusses the impact of losing a child, and the second being where Boyd opens up to Grace about Joe's disappearance. It really showed Trevor Eve at his very best, Boyd was an awesome character, scenes like these showed he wasn't a one dimensional tyrant. I wish the writers had re-watched this when the character of 'Luke' was introduced, his missing son.

A brilliant episode.
