Mrs. Frank Lord secretly grieves because her husband, a wealthy broker, no longer seems to take an interest in home life. Frank Lord, however, has a deep and abiding love for their only son, Paul. Paul is engaged to marry Rose Morton, but of late he has not appeared at her home, and she cannot understand this. Mrs. Lord, becoming suspicious of her husband's actions, engages George Reese, a detective to watch Lord. The sleuth finds that Lord is seemingly infatuated with Flora Ruel, an adventuress. The detective summons Mrs. Lord to a café, one night, where he has reason to believe that her husband and the adventuress are meeting. Paul Lord also goes to the same café in the hope of meeting Flora Ruel, with whom he is infatuated. Later, the husband and father proves convincingly that he has cultivated the adventuress only to prove to his son the fickleness of the woman.
