The Pure Monate Show - sometimes said to be South Africa's Monty Python, was a sketched-based comedy filmed mostly in Johannesburg, South Africa. During the second season of the show, the small writing team produced over 600 minutes of script time in just over three weeks, writing in as many as four different languages. The production team filmed and edited two episodes per week for the duration of the shoot. Pressure and time constraints impacted on the consistency of the overall show, but it still received a huge following in South Africa's townships, where it was seen as one of the first representative voices of local youth in comedy entertainment.
