Prominent Politician Sir Charles Emsworth is questioned by Sergeant Cork, when a widow,
Mrs. Maude Tempest is found by her made, having taken an overdose, leaving a note detailing an affair with Sir Charles.
The title of this one made me laugh a little, I think it might have been better to have called it The case of The Wayward Politician, or The Wayward MP.
It is a pretty good watch, a few talking points, including an MP embroiled in a scandal (the very thought of it!) and Sergeant Cork meeting The Prime Minister.
You may jump the gun and instantly think that Sir Charles is in the wrong, and Maude is the hard done by party, but of course there are two sides, and it's a very interesting story. It's quite an elaborate plot, quite an advanced mind set for 1966.
It's worth noting that at the time (the setting') women didn't even have the vote, it's so hard to imagine, you can imagine the lengths some went to.
What I found so interesting, was seeing Barry Letts here, it was the voice I recognised first, a wonderful voice, even Sergeant Cork comments on it. Being the huge Doctor Who fan that I am, I will always think of him being at the helm for one of the show's most successful ever periods.
7/10.
