Wow, this short film has a bigger cast than many full-length films!

Wow, another film by the Dastoli brothers! It seems like IMDb is flooded with their videos in recent weeks. That isn't a bad thing, as most of them were very enjoyable though I can't think of anyone in recent years who has the same output as these guys--33 films counting this one AND not even counting the ones since. It seems as if they have found a niche with shorts and are not just using a few shorts as a springboard to making full-length films.

One of the first things I noticed about the film was its huge cast--after all, many full-length films have fewer in the cast! However, these many actors all paid off well, as EQUAL JUSTICE turned out to be a dandy film--though incredibly strange. The film seems as if it occurs on some parallel world--sort of a "Bizarro World" where everyone KNOWS that identical twins are evil and where there appears to be no chance to fairly defend the two when they are accused of a crime. What is shocking is how comically it's all played and I laughed out loud when the judge told their down-and-out lawyer to either plead them guilty so they can execute them or face disbarment! This and the way everyone just KNEW that every twin is evil made me chuckle. About the only negative is that some of the language is a tad rough--making this a film for teens and adults. Still, it's super-creative and there's nothing else quite like it--and that just doesn't happen often enough.
