A William Haggar movie in which the part of a desperate father and his wife and children is played by Haggar's son James and his own family. It's basically a long - too long, in fact - chase movie in which Haggar Jr finds himself pursued by a farmer and his hands (as well as a pair of plods) after attempting to steal a sheep to feed his family.

James Haggar steals a sheep and is chased by the shepherds and the police and...
He looks silly, with the sheep draped over shoulders like a mantle, but his father's movie is a serious, if nuanced one. William Haggar had been one of the earliest film makers to work in the 'Chase' .... well, call it a genre, with 1903's A DANGEROUS POACHING AFFRAY. Here, he offers a full reel of the matter, with some images that are startling for anyone more accustomed to the slapstick burlesques of the chase; there's one of Haggar carrying his prize over a cataract from a dammed lake.
William Haggar often used his family in his productions, and in this one, four of his descendants are known.
