Great and simple storytelling
mazenw24 February 2022
Wonderful and a little unconventional story told through the eyes of a young Lebanese guy, living in the post war era. The absurdity of some of the scenes will be lost on non-Lebanese, and it was definitely lost on some of the reviewers here who didn't get it. This movie came out in 2006, the beginning of the decline after a few years of hope. The one day in the life of Tou captures a lot of emotions, a little bit of ridiculousness, and a lot of pent up disappointment and helplessness. Falafel and a little boy provide some salvation, even if on the fantastical side. This isn't for everyone, but I am glad it was made.

Anticlimactic

Meandering, slow moving storyline with an anticlimactic ending. I wanted to get a feel for modern-day Lebanon since it is my husband's heritage. I guess it delivered some of that. But made me sad for the lives of individuals and families made so hard post civil war. Maybe that was the point but I didn't care for the style of this movie.

Nice movie, Great supporting Cast, but..

Warning: Spoilers
Lebanese film industry is still struggling in the birth stage. It was fun for a change to see a Lebanese movie portraying the "post war" phase in Lebanon, with some clever jokes at the beginning of the movie.

The storyline of the movie then evolves to be a really dark image of what you can consider as modern day Lebanon with all of the security leak.

Also, I was surprised by the presence of great Lebanese stars as "Rafiq Ali Ahmad" and "Ammar Shalaq" in small but effective parts of the plot, which they appeared only for few minutes.

In addition to that, there was a kind of a "montage" mistake in one of the scenes at the bathroom, when the lead role character escaped from the bathroom, the escape scene itself appeared before about 10 minutes of his escaping!!

Its also worth to mention that the accompanying music by "Toufic Farroukh" is really great.

Overall I can say that I enjoyed watching this movie, but I was little bit disappointed because I was expecting more from it.

Impossible to understand

This is such a dumb movie that the only people who might understand it would be the folks who wrote and directed it. It is very low budget, with a mundane and often childishly written script. In other words, a very pointless movie that will waste your time if you watch it!

If you are here to see if its worth continuing to watch this movie, do yourself a favor and stop, as it does not get any better or infact it never gets anywhere. Trust me!
