Copper-Bottomed Cert

David Maine is on the verge of getting a new lucrative source of work. The legal advisors for Northern Counties Bank.

Margaret agrees to take a case from Derek Adams. He was encouraged by a bank manager from Northern Counties Bank to invest in a business run by Frank Gerrard.

The company went bust and Adams has lost all his money.

David Maine is not happy with the conflict of interest. He needs to navigate a way to get a settlement for Adams and still get the legal work from the bank. Especially as another bank is moving its operations elsewhere so they will lose a source of work.

It is a messy situation. Maine knows that the bank manager got rid off a troublesome loan from his books by getting Adams to sink his money in.

It was good to see Margaret standing up for herself and the client to David Maine.

I found it notable that this was an era where financial advice was so lightly regulated. Bank managers acting as financial advisers with little regard to ethics and the best interest of all their customers.
