The title is based upon the lyrics from 'Auld Lang Syne;, traditionally sung on New Year's Eve: "Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind".
Donald is quoted a price of $70 per couple for a New Years Eve dinner. $70 in 1968 is the equivalent of ~$560 in 2021. By comparison, Restaurant Daniel in New York has a New Years Gala in 2021 for $925 per person (wine not included).
In the opening scene, Don makes a reference to the recent demolition of the Hotel Astor on Times Square.
