  Tayla , Maddy , Jess , Brooke : [Charlie walks into her room and sees that it's been decorated. Tayla, Maddy, Jess, and Brooke jump out of their hiding places]  Surprise!

  Charlie : What's going on?

  Maddy : We're throwing you a sleepover.

  Brooke : To say sorry for being so hard on you.

  Tayla : We know you were doing it for us.

  Jess : So we wanted to do something for you. What do you think?

  Charlie : It's amazing!

  Tayla : See what Jess did.

  [points to a painting on the wall] 

  Charlie : It's us!

  Maddy : Don't start bawling. You'll get us all going.

  Charlie : Thank you so much.

  Maddy : It was Frankie's idea.

  Francesca 'Frankie' Thomas : Hey. Told you things would work out.

  [hands Charlie a bag]

  Charlie : What's in it?

  Francesca 'Frankie' Thomas : It's for all of you.

  Tayla : Open it.

  [Charlie takes out a Sleepover Club book just like Frankie's] 

  Tayla : [gasps] 

  Charlie : You made us a book like yours!

  Tayla : Does that mean we're a Sleepover Club?

  Francesca 'Frankie' Thomas : You already were one. You just didn't know it yet.

  [everyone thanks Frankie] 

  Tayla : We're a Sleepover Club!

  Francesca 'Frankie' Thomas : [narrating]  So I might have left my old Sleepover Club friends behind. But there's a new Sleepover Club now.

  Tayla , Maddy , Jess , Brooke , Charlie : Friends for life!

  Francesca 'Frankie' Thomas : [continues narrating]  Somehow, I think they might have just as much fun as we did.

  Jess : Then why isn't she here to tell us?

  Brooke : It's not a good look sending your cousin to do your dirty work.

  Francesca 'Frankie' Thomas : She doesn't even know that I'm here.

  Tayla : So why *are* you here?

  Francesca 'Frankie' Thomas : You guys are Charlie's friends. It's been a big mistake and I was hoping that with your help, we could fix it.

• Maddy : [about the speech]  I'm not doing it. Jess?

  Jess : No way. I'm the shy, arty one. Tayla's good at this.

  Tayla : Forget it. Public speaking makes me break out.

  Maddy : Somebody's got to do the speech, or our project is sunk.

  Brooke : Fine! I'll do it! I mean, how hard can it be?

  [reading the speech] 

  Brooke : "When Mount Vesuvius exploded over Pompeii, 180,000 pounds of rock were forced into the air."

  Maddy : We're sunk.

  Brooke : Hey!

  Tayla : She means that in the nicest, possible way. Right, Maddy?

  Maddy : I miss Charlie.

  Jess : You're only saying that 'cause we need her.

  Maddy : No, I really miss her.

  Brooke : Me too.

  Jess : All right. I miss her, too.

  Tayla : Frankie was right. This *was* a mistake.

  Maddy : So how do we fix it?

• Tayla : [walking in the park with Jess and Maddy]  Do you think Charlie's okay? She was a bit weird today. You don't think she's got some terrible disease, do you?

  Charlie : [after she and Brooke tied some dogs to a tree and the Blockheads cut them loose]  How'd they get free?

  Brooke : It doesn't matter, as long as we get them all back!

  Maddy : What are you doing?

  Charlie : The dogs got free.

  Tayla : What dogs?

  Charlie : From the shelter we walked them from.

  Tayla : You bailed on me to walk dogs? I thought you were, like, dying!

  Charlie : It's just that I couldn't fit everything in! See, Brooke took an extra shift with the dogs, so I had to change you and Jess to another day. So I'd find time to see Frankie...

  Tayla : I thought we were friends!

  Charlie : We are!

  Jess : So why don't you just tell us what was going on?

  Charlie : Because... I didn't want to let any of you down.

  Tayla : Well, you did!

  Charlie : Well, thanks a lot! I've been so busy helping all of you, that I haven't even found time to finish my speech for the assignment!

  Maddy : You promised you'd have it ready.

  Tayla : We were depending on you.

  Jess : We'll do the speech ourselves. Let's go, guys.

  [she, Tayla, and Maddy angrily walk away] 

  Charlie : Fine.

  Brooke : Fine.

  [takes the dog that Charlie has and joins Maddy, Tayla, and Jess]
