Doomed Luxury Liner
AaronCapenBanner1 October 2014
Then-topical episode deals with the tragic sinking of the luxury liner Titanic in the North Atlantic in April, 1912, and the circumstances that led to the disaster, and the consequences for those held responsible, since over 1500 lives were lost in the frigid waters, where there weren't enough lifeboats for everyone. The ship collided with an unseen iceberg, hitting it in the exact part of the ship where it was vulnerable. Interesting account here, but now sadly dated, since the experts interviewed were wrong, as the ship broke in two before sinking, since they believed that it was still whole. The blockbuster feature film "Titanic"(1997) illustrates this best...

A solid episode
mm-3924 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
A solid episode! In Search of The Titanic is a historic reference episode. Much is addressed about the building of the ship it self. The procedures, and safety standards of The Titanic's time. 1 200 passengers and many died because of not having enough life boats. Titanic sailed through a range of icebergs which could have been avoided. Eye witness who explained the night. One witness who avoided the trip! Dated episode for there is reference of a search in 81 and The Titanic was not found yet. The Californian boat captain was blamed about the rescue and the controversial reasons behind it. The Titanic accident itself a perfect hit to sink the ship. The physics behind the accidents. A wealth of knowledge with the Titanic episode. 9 out of 10 stars.

In Search Of... "The Titanic" (1981)

This here is probably the most out-of-date episode from the entire series but it's also one of the most fascinating to watch today because at the time the episode aired the Titanic still hadn't been found and there were still countless questions that were unsolved. It's fascinating watching this episode today since the ship was found and we now know so much more than we did in 1981. The episode works perfectly well as a time capsule back to a time when there wasn't too much known. We get to see a few of the items from the ship that were picked up by survivors and we also get to hear form Eva Hart who talks about the sinking of the ship as well as her mothers premonition of it sinking. Titanic buffs will certainly enjoy watching this episode.
