There are places that almost does not exist, there are job's that no one likes!
tealc-avalon2 January 2007
Sinopse: There are places as "Casais de Folgosinho" that almost does not exist. There is no electric light, canalized water, nor roads. It is lost in the silence of a valley within "Serra da Estrela". In times it was an authentic sanctuary of shepherds; today the oldest are almost dying and the new ones don't like the hard job of being shepherd. Herminio, 27 years old, opposes the end. They say that he is the youngest shepherd, but also the craziest one, alone with a radio in is hands he goes down the mountains to the sound of some cassettes of the popular Portuguese singer Quim Barreiros, is dream is that one day we could meet him. The sounds of the cassettes and the radio are the one thing that helps in this life of solitude.

Their life
Santosguito27 December 2009
This is an excellent documentary about the lives of the last shepherds of Serra da Estrela, a ridge of mountains in central Portugal. Their life is hard and almost the same as their forefathers, with little of the comforts of modern life. And it is because of this that young people turn their backs to this life with no future and the region is being depopulated.

The documentary piece is excellently done, not emitting a single judgment about this way of life and its disappearance. The camera and the narration just show us what it the reporter sees - the way these people live. Highly recommended in these times when we are so obsessed with a life in communion with nature.
