On June 25, 1998, Anita Wooldridge vanished from her Indiana home in suspicious circumstances. The police and the FBI were spot on in record time, identifying the prime suspect, a convicted rapist who had abducted a young woman in broadly similar circumstance years previously.
This documentary includes reconstructions and interviews, including with Anita herself, who was miraculously found eight days later being held captive in a metal cabinet. The one surprising if not disturbing fact to be gleaned from this is the claim by the lawmen interviewed that they didn't have enough evidence to arrest Victor Steele; they even needed to obtain a warrant before they could search the premises where they believed Anita was being held. In view of some of the outrageous abuses the FBI has perpetrated over the years, this claim is difficult to credit.
