Andrzej Chyra, Jan Englert, Artur Zmijewski, and Pawel Malaszynski in Katyn (2007)

Goofs

Katyn

Edit

Continuity

(1h 24min in): When Tadeusz tears down the poster, we can see that he rips most of it from the wall. In the next scene when soldiers come, there is a close-up of a soldier holding the pieces of the poster that are much larger than those left by Tadeusz.

Factual errors

In the first scene depicting the Polish officers in the Soviet POW camp, the subtitles in both Polish and English incorrectly give the location of the camp as "Kozielsk", USSR. This is a mistake. Kozielsk is a small village in Poland, but the historical camp where the Polish POWs were sent by the Soviets was outside the town of Kozelsk in Kozelsky Oblast, USSR.

Anachronisms

Tur says to Ewa, "Haven't you seen that Disney's "The Sleeping Beauty", remember?" That movie was first released fourteen years after 1945, so this may be a mistranslation in the subtitles for "Snow White".
When Soviets are about to execute the General, there is a portrait of Joseph Stalin on the back wall. Stalin on the portrait has the uniform with shoulder straps of the Marshal of Soviet Union. Soviets begun to use shoulder straps in 1943 and Stalin did not had any military rank during events of Katyn massacre. He became Marshal in 1943 and Generalissimus in 1945.

Crew or equipment visible

When the Polish soldiers are looking for the first star outside their church prison, the snow is coming from the left, not from above, and is very thick at the point of origin before spreading out. This is repeated in a slightly later scene, so it looks as though the snow is being blown sideways from a snow making machine, not falling form the sky.

Boom mic visible

Soon after Agnieszka sells her hair, during the first dialogues with the two men who carry the tombstone.
