When Ros, masquerading as the hotel manager, tells the US diplomat that she is familiar with the (fictional) Kansas City Flamers, she indicates that she spent several years 'in Kansas'. But Kansas City is in Missouri, not Kansas (which has an adjacent, much smaller Kansas City--but not one with a sports team). The diplomat would have spotted this as an error right away.
