B-movie with some serious attitude!

Dark Night worked superbly on many different levels, starting off as a parody of the horror genre, and quickly taking a turn to become a genuinely scary film. Truly entertaining, it captures the classic "teen slasher flick" ambiance without making the story dull or allowing the audience to predict the ending (partly due to the clever jumps of the narrative back and forth in time, and partly due to the witty script). I especially liked the delicate balance between the comical gore/dialogue, and the aspects that were truly terrifying. A big plus was that the characters are genuinely believable (more than I can say about many films I've seen recently); the actors capture the essence of being young and at a party, their cynical humour about the situation, all the while allowing the interpersonal relationships to develop depth. Their conversations are some of the highlights in the movie! They are also one of the main reasons that the premise of the creepy house works so well: you are really made to feel as though you're in the room with them... I recommend Dark Night to everyone (even though I scare quite easily). This is definitely a movie to watch!

I went to see this film at UCL film festival show.I was told the movie was made for less than £8,000 by a bunch of keen students during a summer vacation. The story line was good and the acting and direction were excellent, but what kept it all together for me was the pace of the film, the editing and original music score. Although its a 'horror flick' I didn't leave disturbed, but with a calm and satisfied feeling instead.

The "S Squad" (Scorcese,Spielberg and the Scotts} have some genuine competition at last!

This guy Daniel Grant should go far!

Will we see this film in other festivals and on release? And when is his next effort due? With more funding this guy will be 'the new kid on the block!'
