The film is set in 1986, and Kenny twice references the line "Have I told you lately that I love you?", which is the title of a Van Morrison song from 1989. However, it is also the title of a popular song written in 1945 by Scotty Wiseman, and covered by Elvis Presley and Eddie Cochran, among many others.
