Synopsis

  • Kay drops her daughter Riley and her friends, Abbey and Tasumi, off at the mall, while she does some shopping. It's Riley's first day as a Happy Hornet, and it coincides with the Annual Beef Jerky Charity Fundraising Contest, which they lose every year to troupe Sassy Sunflower with their Designer Jerky, led by Sierra McCool. Riley's troupe is led by Scoutleader Susan, who insists on every Happy Hornet rule being followed to the letter. This ruins their chances of selling any jerky, since the rules basically forbid them from advertising. Since Riley can't come up with another plan, she calls Fleemco for a scoutleader replacement, someone who knows how to sell and won't get caught up in a lot of little rules. Mr Fleem sends them Sloane Stone, who teaches the girls how to con people into buying their jerky. They make people think the jerky is reserved for a celebrity, bully-resistant, celebrity endorsed, and they even get their own talk show to show the many uses of jerky. But when Sierra invites Riley to join the Sassy Sunflowers, she states that Riley is already devious, shifty and willing to do anything to win, just like they are. Riley realises that she was so caught up in trying to beat Sierra, that she started to act like her, and she makes the decision to start telling the truth, live on air. But no matter how hard she tries, Riley's truths only seem to make people like her more, and her troupe ends up winning the contest.

That's fine because it took courage for me to show you that sometimes I lack courage *Dick is shown wearing jerky jewellery and getting attacked by wolves, screaming* Mr Fleem: This has been Dick Daring on 'Courage' Dick Daring: Uh for the record, that wasn't me screaming there, that was a girl, who just happened to be there when the wolves ran by, and she screamed
