Definitely not an award-winner but interesting enough

While I agree to some extent with what the previous comment says, there is something still good about the movie. True, this movie is undeniably pathetic. But I guess this movie deserves, for me, a 6. As a whole, the movie cries mediocrity. I don't know, but it seems the producers didn't have a polished, well made film in mind, in terms of the technical side, like cinematography, costume and production design. Though it must be noted that what the film offered was still acceptable: about a 3 out of 5. But when it comes to the storyline, interestingly enough, it is quite entertaining and the mystery behind the identity of the suspect, which is a focal point as well of the story, is also with ample suspense. Frankly, i really didn't have any idea who the suspect really was. Furthermore, there was still the undeniable Filipino touch in there of community, friends and family. And for college students, like me, through all the cheesiness exuding from the film there was a remarkable bit of familiarity. Though again, the story-telling wasn't that worthy of applause. And with regards to the actors, i think they did their job with just enough effort to have a passing mark. They didn't bring the house down, but they sure were trying and they provided enough entertainment. They have a lot to improve though, but still, thinking that all of them are just starting out, kudos to them, they did make me laugh, think and feel. sort of. But okay, for any serious movie fan out there, this movie is rubbish, and i don't blame you. But for anyone who just wants to watch a mediocre, not-so-hard-on-the-head, cheesy, laid-back Filipino movie, well First Day High might just be interesting enough for you.

This is the Philippines' version of the widely-acclaimed High School Musical. The movie is trying to capture the same message, as in, being true to oneself, etc. It is some sort of a musical but the songs are NOT catchy and you can tell that the movie overall was done with little preparation and insight. The story is so boring and the characters (the script, clothes, individual characters) are so surreal. The actors and actresses should have gone through more workshops and should have been trained more. All they project on screen are their efforts to be "cute" and nothing more. There was this character who is supposed to be brainy but could not even pronounce some English words right. I rated this 2 but I should have rated it 1 (for awful), 2 for the effort.

It's okay movie

This movie was okay. Obviously if you have not watched High School Musical you wouldn't even freaking compare this to that in the first place. If you have watched that movie before this and find this copied that's on you! Obviously I like this one better because they are all Filipino compared to HSM I could not relate!!!

I love MAJA's part in this she did pretty good but I don't really like Gerald and Kim's part they should have kicked them out of the movie. If you want some smart talker English stick to your American High School Musical movie. Since you can relate to it so easily and they speak good English.
