After a long night of fear at Collinwood, Vicki (Alexandra Moltke) considers leaving, which saddens Carolyn (Nancy Barrett). While the young women have breakfast, Roger (Louis Edmonds) stops by to apologize for interrogating Vicki. When he leaves, Carolyn learns about Vicki's childhood in the foundling home. Vicki explains how she was left in a cardboard box with the note, "Her name is Victoria, I cannot take care of her." Vicki tells Carolyn a $50 payment was sent anonymously for her, beginning at age two and ending when Vicki was sixteen. Carolyn reveals her father left Collinwood "six months before I was born," which coincides perfectly with the beginning of her mother's life as a recluse...
Carolyn thinks Vicki's checks and Paul Stoddard leaving town, both 18 years ago, connect. Meanwhile, David (David Henesy) sneaks into Vicki's room and packs her suitcase. Later, Vicki takes another walk to the top of Widow's Hill, where she meets painter Mark Allen (as Samuel "Sam" Evans, age 53), Maggie's alcoholic father. Like most everybody we've met, he worries about the return of Burke. Sam tells Vicki a legendary story of Josette Collins, who jumped to her death form the cliffs where they stand. The ghost of Josette may haunt Collinwood
This scene matches the film and taped footage better than the second episode. Most interesting is the establishment of Vicki's abandonment in 1948...
