- J.R. Ewing: Have you decided where you wanna go tonight, son? Or do you want your mama to decide?
- Miss Ellie Ewing Farlow: Oh, what's all this about?
- J.R. Ewing: Oh, I'm taking my wife and my boy to do the town.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Or, at least, dinner and a movie.
- Charlie Wade: [by herself, but out loud:] That's weird!
- Jenna Wade: [admonishing sharply] Charlie!
- Charlie Wade: I'm sorry.
- J.R. Ewing: That's all right, Charlie. The three of us hasn't been spending too much time together lately. But that's gonna change!
- J.R. Ewing: [sighs] What the hell are you doing calling me at home? What's the matter?
- Jack Ewing: They've decided to stay down here to see the mine.
- J.R. Ewing: Is that right?
- Jack Ewing: What am I supposed to show them? An empty hole in the side of the mountain?
- J.R. Ewing: Yes, that is exactly what you're gonna show 'em. I want you to impress on them that although the mine doesn't look like very much *now*, once you get that thing operating, there'll be no end to the emeralds you're gonna pull out of there.
- Jack Ewing: What if they don't go for it?
- J.R. Ewing: If you do your job, they'll go for it. Now, you've got to keep that Barnes woman committed to the mine, you understand that?
- Jack Ewing: [as Mark Graison approaches] Yeah, right. I gotta go.
- J.R. Ewing: And I don't wanna hear from you again, unless you're in real trouble, you understand?
