Sofa so good

I was in the Isle of Man when I watched this episode. Only to hear Clegg going on about Hitler being thrown out of the Ovateenies and he then took the emblem of the Isle of Man and started to invade Europe. This left people confused as to why they were being invaded by the Isle of Man.

There is a high deal of irrelevancy in this episode but by Jove it is funny. In fact viewing it again, my wife was astonished I could remember so much about the episode over 30 years later.

Wesley returns as he has found the Loxley Lozenge and he is ever so excited. The trio are clueless as to what he is on about. Foggy uses the old computer in his head and formulates that the Lozenge was an old cough sweet from olden times when in fact it is a battered vintage car.

It needs towing and reluctantly Clegg has to overcome his phobia of driving. A makeshift sofa is used as seats but things go a little sideways.

This episode was shown as a Christmas Special but there is nothing festive about it, just a regular episode from the forthcoming series that was selected for the festive season.

Repeats of this episode inserted scenes of Crusher in the cafe, Ivy's nephew bought in to help out. This was the first episode since actor John Comer's death but the show would not acknowledge Sid's demise for some years.

The artist painting the landscape is Ashley Jackson, a well known Yorkshire based artist.

The episode ends with our trio walking up the hills at what looks like sunset. A great shot, there must have been a great bus service in those days to take them to such a remote countryside location.

Be quiet will you

Warning: Spoilers
One of the best lines in LOTSW. "Be quiet will you - be quiet little twit" Classic line. I just love last of the summer wine - at least the ones with Foggy - Compo - Clegg. Classic British comedy...
