Quite Engrossing!

'Sleeping Dogs' is one heck of a simple movie, stretched out entertainingly and quite astonishingly. It's all about a blind diabetic old man who finds out his brother is going to have his faithful dog destroyed. So he goes on a quest to the pound to rescue him. Meanwhile, a young orderly is sent out to find him, but he has to deal with some problems of his own. I really loved this movie for some odd reason. I haven't been digging a lot of independent Canadian cinema lately, but this one for some odd reason stuck with me. I guess it's just the simpleness of the quest, and the underlying reasoning behind it that stuck with me. I loved Brian Stellar in this one, who played the blind man with a lot of determination. Tony Adah as the orderly is quite good as well. The fact that he's black and lost in Ontario while trying to find the pound has some great 'Defiant Ones' quantity about it. Interesting film, would recommend it highly.
