Meet Corliss Archer: The Male Ego is typical bland '50s sitcom effort
tavm11 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
It's men vs. women as Janet and and daughter Corliss try to keep husband Harry and boyfriend Dexter, respectively, happy by letting them win various games like cards, golf, and horseshoe. When Harry and Dexter find out they try to prove how good they are in fixing toasters and sewing to disastrous results! Typical battle of the sexes that results in a very bland episode though it gets points in involving the entire ensemble and not usually just Dexter and his goofy antics. A few visual gags here and there and some witty lines do provide some amusement but, as typical of many '50s sitcoms, it just adds up to one big blah. If you're interested in seeing anything from The Golden Age of Television, by all means take a look. Otherwise avoid.
