The play shows Eddie Boland, as the man-about-town, who has remained at a hotel too long without paying his rent. The proprietor figures the only way to get his money back is make the fellow work it out. So he gives him a job as handy man to hop bells, run the elevator, and cook. All goes well until Mlle. Lazara del Frijole, an actress who hates publicity like a hungry canary detests birdseed, arrives. She gives the new bell hop a package, telling him they are her valuable jewels, and instructs him to guard them with his life, until she calls for them. The tremendous responsibility is too much for the young man, and he endeavors to get rid of the package. The many amusing ways in which the jewels find their way back into his hands, while the house detectives are watching, make laughable moments without number.
