Tribute to Twin Peaks??
ted_pikael12 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Am I the only person that thinks that this episode contains a tribute to David Lynch's excellent Twin Peaks?

To be more explicit, when I see Kyle McLachlan

involved with a talking parrot it makes something in my mind click...especially when the bird is acting as a eyewitness to a murder...hum... Does this not remind us of something else...another time, another place but same actor(although this time on the other side of the law...)

Is it my imagination, or was this a short but glorious reference to the series that(in my eyes) heavily inspired Desperate Housewives?

I always have a hard time enjoying « early » season 3.

Warning: Spoilers
I love the first couple of episodes, though. Take away the comedy situation, and you get leads that are obnoxious this year. Which is a thing that almost never happened previously, thanks to thoughtful writing and good characterizations. And to make matters worse, the new characters are awful human beings as well. This premiere is too good for what is also one of DH's weakest seasons. The mystery is all over the place, and you barely keep track of each unbelievable twists. The way Orson is introduced there, made you realize writers struggled to portray him as a believable red herring. He's shown as both an abusive and loving husband throughout, and the way Bree acts around him, looks forced. As if writers were rushed to kickstart the relationship. Good to know she's a republican though, lol. Susan gets on my nerves. And it's sad such good love interests, including a Dougray Scott, that is just as dreamy as he was in « Ever After », are wasted on her. Eddie became extremely unpleasant too, and her dating Carlos, is one of the things I hate the most about season 3. Obviously Gabby is still my favorite « housewives », and her one liners, and interactions with each characters, are hysterical. But I hate how Lynette is suffering, so Norah and Kayla, who are also characters that ruined the premiere for me. Can crash the Scavo family's birthday party. Another thing I don't like about this season in general either, and the premiere in particular, was how you could sense tension onscreen. Or boredom amongst the actresses. And the focus on the annoying kids too. I love how Laurie Metcalf's scenes, mirrored hers on Scream 2, but it still can't make up the fact that « Listen to the Rain on the Roof » promises are never met on the long run, and that that last shot of the episode, looks like a lazy attempt to capitalize on the Pilot episode's shocking closing.

Tired of this

Give me one more sad episode and I'm through with this show. Desperate Housewives is supposed to be my escape from sadness through ludicrous, yet wittily funny situational comedy and dialog. I hate sad Desperate Housewives.

Please fix this show.

I loved it the first season and some parts of the second season were good too. I'm not ready to go through another episode of letdowns and disappointments.

BTW, why are all of the characters doing the same things they did all of last season? Answers, I need answers.
