Over the closing credits, Red describes what became of several Possum Lodge members in the years after the show. Mike Hamar: Became Possum Lake's police chief (with the result that the town's crime rate dropped to zero). Winston Rothschild III: Got a job investigating government corruption. Hap Shaughnessy: Claimed to have been made ambassador to Guam. Edgar K.B. Montrose: Tried to make a recliner out of plastic explosives and hadn't been heard from since. Ed Frid: Became head of the local animal rights group. Harold Green: He and his wife Bonnie, who he married in the final episode, had a son and daughter. (Red describes them as "taking over the community.") Red himself claims to be the only one who didn't change, but in the final shot, instead of wearing the usual wardrobe he sported throughout the series--plaid shirt, red and green suspenders and fishing hat--he appears wearing a tuxedo.
