Eddie and Wally are going to the movies, and Eddie is concerned that he smells OK. June affirms, Eddie smells just fine. June wants the two to wait for Beaver and Larry. Beaver and Larry show up but both look like they just climbed out of a pigsty. This could put a crimp in Eddie's plan to meet girls if the junior grubs are with them.
June and Ward want Beaver to become neater; he should look more like Wally. Ward's plan is to praise Wally which will make Beaver envious and thus Beaver will want to improve his appearance. At dinner, both Ward and June praise Wally. Wally enjoys the praise, but he too is tired of living with a pig. Beaver does not like being called a pig; and as Beaver might say, Ward's plan is "kinda sorta" having an effect. The next morning Wally takes off for school but Beaver is running late: he's shining his shoes. Actually, he's shinning his socks. The bathroom however has borne the brunt of "creating" the new and improved Beaver.
If Beaver doesn't like being neat, Larry suggests Beaver ask for his own room. Then he doesn't have to worry about being like Wally. All he has to do is close the door, his room can be the pigpen that Beaver is comfortable in. Now there is some real food for thought. Beaver asks for and gets his own room. Everything should be fine. June does not like the plan, she believes Ward's plan has turned brother against brother. Ward figures if Beaver has a night alone then he will want to move back in with Wally. Ward might be on to something. After some shadows frighten Beaver, he puts his tomahawk under his pillow with him for protection.
When a bunch of cats make a ruckus, Beaver makes a mad dash to Wally. Beaver wants to find out if Wally is scared. Wally offers to let Beaver stay with him. While the two are sharing Wally's bed, they discuss the reason why Beaver wanted his own room in the first place. Beaver's feelings were hurt and Wally says he probably shouldn't have called Beaver a pig. The boys decide Wally will be a little messy at times, and Beaver will be a little neater at times. A perfect truce.
June comes upstairs to check on the boys and finds Wally and Beaver asleep together in Wally's bed. Ward is out of the doghouse.
Definitely some truth in this episode. Brothers aren't always alike, which seems to cause more problems for parents actually then it does for brothers. Brothers generally find a way to work around one another just to give parents a sense all is right in the world.
