Not one of the best episodes.

Warning: Spoilers
"Expo 2068" begins with the shipping of a nuclear device in a wet and wild area of Canada. Cue Captain Black to put a spanner in the works when he switches a road diversion sign (a bridge has collapsed). The driver sails over the collapsed bridge and is then reconstructed.

The Mysteron threat is to deal a "heavy blow to the prestige of the world" on the Atlantic seaboard of North America, obviously, the construction of Expo 2068 is a possible target and a nuclear reactor, a means of obliterating the construction site.

In a bit of a reach in writing, Spectrum zero in on the moving of the nuclear reactor way too fast. Though the project manager wants no "help" from Spectrum, Colonel White forces it upon him, adding that "We'll be discreet."

The nuclear device, truck and driver are late arriving at a checkpoint, mainly because the Mysteron reconstruction and Captain Black are loading the nuclear core into an automated helicopter being used by the construction company building Expo 2068! A local woodsman witnesses the goings on so the Mysteron reconstruction shoots him saying "Sorry friend, you're one witness too many." (Gary Files did more voice work as Mysteron villains than he ever did as Captain Magenta!)

Luckily, Scarlet & Blue find the guy who mumbles "Seneca.... Seneca." It means nothing to them. Captain Blue finds fresh tyre marks and a valve. The dreaded Destiny overflies the area and spots the transporter being driven away from the area. Captains Scarlet and Blue go after the transporter and they try to do a PIT move with their SPV....this is a scene where we get an idea of just how big an SPV was supposed to be. The Mysteron reconstruction is forced off the road and crashes. The two Captains rush to the transporter to check the device: "Empty!!" says Captain Scarlet.

The area is considered to be a possible disaster area and the county is cordened off. Colonel White tells the Captains that there is nothing moving except for some helicopters run by the Seneca Company. A meets B!! Captain Blue's valve was the only device saving the reactor from overheating and blowing up whilst being transported. Scarlet dons a jet pack and gains entry into the crate containing the reactor. He's given instructions on how to dewire the thing but the helicopter is out of control since Captain Black shot dead the operator. Eventually the whirlybird crashes but Scarlet managed to prevent a nuclear detonation. Maddeningly, there's no announcement of "Well, The Mysterons have won this round." the helicopter itself does damage but will the Expo be cancelled??

Not the most thrilling episode, the best scene is the race between the transporter and the SPV, the view from inside the truck's cab showing how big an SPV was supposed to be.

6/10.

Threats are made and stuff blows up. That's about it.

'Expo 2068' is standard filler unless you enjoy watching Captain Scarlet disable a bomb. A no-nonsense nuclear reactor is hijacked by you-know-who, leaving Spectrum to give chase. But the Mysterons' plan is unfocused, resulting in shots galore of lumbering big rigs, helicopters slowing down for a landing and . . . well, more of both of those. Captain Black seems more cutthroat than usual , callously killing some poor schlub in the control room (in contradiction to what he said in 'Manhunt' about not being devoid of compassion).

And we never even find out whether the Mysterons' plan was a success.

Meh.
