Vanished: Drop improves on the first two episodes
tavm4 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
After two weeks of some confusing narratives, some plot points are coming forward. The envelope, that a man who lost a woman named Nikki Johnson brought to a tabloid reporter, has a tape with her on it. The reporter looks at it and, after her assistant closes on her face, sees an uncanny resemblance to the missing senator's wife Sara Collins. She then asks the man who gave her envelope if he was offered any money. The man, who just wants to find his lost Nikki after twelve years, is insulted and gets his tape back. The assistant made a copy before doing so. Meanwhile, the senator Jeffrey Collins finds a cell with a ransom printed on it. It says to get $100,000,000 by noon the next day and if he tells the FBI about it, Sara's dead. They find out anyway and make plans to trail Jeffrey, with his knowledge, as he comes alone to a downtown Atlanta plaza. Jeffrey's daughter, Marcy, is with boyfriend Ben Wilson, who is now a leading suspect in the the death of the person who personally snatched Sara five hours before his untimely end. At the plaza, senator sits down alone, then gets a call with instructions to walk through fountain water, up to a manhole, with suitcase lying on it. Underneath is a bomb. The leading agent, realizing he is being set up, rushes to warn the people away, as the senator is instructed to walk away to a door. After door closes, the bomb explodes with the money in open suitcase spreading all over plaza with people grabbing what they can...even a little girl joins in! The senator is instructed to go to an outside elevator which falls quickly down before slowing at the end. All this is captured on tabloid camera in another building across. The senator no longer trusts the FBI, Ben is arrested, and the copy of Nikki is suddenly lost. And the senator gets another call at home from the ransom man saying he sees everything...This is a very thrilling and intense episode and I was glad to see Ming-Na have a few more lines and some important scenes. The senator's ex-wife also has some interesting flashbacks with Sara. With this episode, Vanished has improved a bit. Can't wait to see what comes next week!
