No sane person can possibly sit through this one

At first i was just bored, then i started to get more and more angry and i mean very angry. There got to be some limits to what you can hand out to people and this by far passed the limit. As you start watching it you may think that it is a quite bad 15 minutes long home-movie and thats just about what it's suitable for. At this point you should have in mind that it's 70 minutes long, so i suggest that you turn it of at this point. I would not even want to consider it as a movie, more like at threat to humanity.

Please do not watch this! I saw it several months ago and haven't recovered yet.

Contender for worst movie ever made.
TOMNEL31 January 2009
There are a lot of bad movies made, and a select few of them pick up a cult status because they're so bad, they're funny. This is not one of those. This movie is not funny in the least, nor is it entertaining at all. It's filmed like an actual movie, but still the filming tries to be stylistic, but it's just awful, and almost impossible to watch. This movie is an incoherent mess, and nothing more.

Two gangster hip hop performers want to get big in the music industry, so they go around killing drug dealers...this is the entire movie. It's unbearable!

The style here is unstylish and weird. Never once do we see the main characters' faces. They are always in shadow, and for no purpose but to be in shadow. Scenes are long and very drawn out. Many scenes feature these two men rapping in front of a black background for several minutes at a time. It's boring, and dumb, and most of all, not entertaining in any way whatsoever.

This probably is the most boring, worst written, least stylish movie I have ever seen, with acting slightly better than the rest of itself. This is a worthy contender for the most boring movie of all time, and for worst movie of all time. Don't even try to watch it! My rating: BOMB out of ****. 80 mins. R for language and violence.

May The Lord Have Mercy On Us All
tornadovines31 October 2007
Warning: Spoilers
A group of stereotypical Latinos are causing trouble like jacking someone's car and cocaine so they can afford a record deal. But basically it's them going "**** homes, yeahhhh" for the entire film. I've seen a lot of crap but this sincerely takes the top. It's completely bankrupt in every imaginable way possible. I bet these chumps think they're cool but they're nothing but a black spot on humanity. They just got a camera and started rolling. I bet these guys dropped out of high school.

Please, don't make the same mistake I did. Don't do this to yourself. You're a decent human being, you don't deserve to be put through this.

this movie had a lot to do with cocaine
katiejane7200014 October 2006
but all the coke in the world couldn't make this movie anywhere close to watchable. the makers of this film try SOOOOO hard to get you to realize that the main characters are cholos. after the 10,000th "homes" "essay" "vato", we get it. thanks. then there are the "artistic" shots where the people speaking are all but in the dark. you can barely make them out, and they're in and out of the frame. or the ones where they are REALLY close to the camera. really, i didn't care to know the state of their pores. and the scenes are LONG. ridiculously, painfully, needlessly long. honestly, watching it HURT. so unless you are masochistic, then please, for your future, do not see Hip Hop Locos.

My head hurts

First review ever made just to express my discontent for this movie.

I love bad movies and this had potential based on low budget and bad acting. But there are so many problems and none of them translate into unintentional humor. Examples There is almost no lighting. You seriously don't see what's going on the entire movie. The characters are horrible. They seriously sound like bad impressions of stereo types. It feels like a bad homemade music video. Lots of filters and color corrections, but not done well. Music lyrics and beats were atrocious. I recommend staying away. Im not sure if it would go down better with a group watch but I doubt it.

The worst film ever made!
manchester_england200424 August 2017
Just checking back on my ratings list, I recalled the names of the most awful, lousy films I've seen and rated one star out of 10. I realised that one of those films is probably the worst film ever made. There's one film that stood out more than any of the others and that's HIP HOP LOCOS.

I'm having a really hard time trying to remember much about this film (think I may have fell asleep halfway through watching it). It's about a bunch of rap stars who kill drug dealers or something like that. My only real memory of this film is about a guy saying "homes" in just about every line, which was very irritating. We never see the faces of these guys or anything. Whether this was some lame attempt at creating a mystery of some kind or due to non-existent lighting I'll never know.

The acting, the dialogue and everything else about this film is absolutely atrocious. There is not a single positive thing that can be said about this film, not even one. I'm being generous even calling it a film since it's just a series of loosely connected scenes, shot on a camcorder, made on a budget of what seems like $2.50. And there may have still been some spare change left over. The worst film Ed Wood ever made must seem like a very competently produced epic masterpiece in comparison to this dreck.

There's nothing more I can say about this film. It has nothing whatsoever going for it. Whoever produced it would be well-advised not to attempt to make any more films.

And you thought Manos the Hands of Fate was bad. It can't hold a candle to this.
b-a-h TNT-62 March 2021
About 17 years ago, I had watched an atrocious low-budget, unknown 80s Italian "comedy" and had called it "the worst movie ever made". Since then, I had seen a handful of movies that had came close, and perhaps even equaled it, but I could never quite decide if they really were worse. "At that bottom-of-the barrel level", I figured "it's just about impossible to decide which one is worse".

Well, not anymore. After seeing Hip Hop Locos I can say, without even a shred of a doubt, that this abomination is now firmly on top of the list of the worst movies I have ever seen. Heck, I am pretty sure that if you challenge someone (who has never seen Hip Hop Locos, that is) to make the worst movie ever made, they would end up making something better than this crap.

This is supposedly a "found footage" horror. For starters, the concept that it is found footage is not believable in the least; there are clearly scenes that make no sense in that context, such as shots from what appears the POV of the victims, or from a camera that's held neither by the protagonists or another character in the movie. But that's really the least of the problems.

The whole movie is so poorly lit that typically in half of the scene you can't tell what is happening. Security camera footage looks better than this, and I am absolutely not exaggerating. There are some headache-inducing effects resulting in the images being incredibly grainy or with inverted colors, for some reason. Not only it's a terrible idea (especially for a supposedly "found footage" movie), but it's so overdone it just makes the whole thing look like they're playing a prank on the viewer.

There are cuts where the same 3-4 seconds of a scene is repeated several times, sometimes slowed down, in what I can only imagine is an attempt at padding the running time. Not that the scenes that are not repeated are any more interesting: long stretches of driving on a dark road, the two protagonists sitting smoking a joint, or talking on a pay phone in a gas station (?) without even hearing what they are saying.

Then there is the dialogue. Far and away the worst in any movie (I can't say "in any movie script" because clearly there was none for this). The two "actors" are obviously trying to talk "street" slang, but the whole thing is so overdone it only provokes laughs... for the first two minutes, then it becomes just unbearable. The word "homes" especially must have been repeated at least 500 times in the 70 minutes running time. Again, I am not exaggerating.

I could go on and on, but other reviewers have already pointed out how utterly dismal, atrocious, unbearable this "movie" is. I seriously can't imagine it being kicked off the top spot of my "worst movies I have ever seen" any time soon.

Eternal Driving...
azathothpwiggins12 October 2021
HIP HOP LOCOS is mostly a lengthy drive through town with the titular "gangsters". They ramble on endlessly, talking tough about murdering their various enemies. This is merged with their extolling the virtues of their "homies".

These chatty gents do -eventually- murder some folks, and there is a semi-energetic finale. At least they get out of the car for a minute!

Good luck with this heavy slab of misery...

one of my favorite films
iasimkhovich3 November 2016
i'm not kidding with the score. i can't think of anything it could have done better than what it did.

this is a film designed from a very personal point of view. the main protagonist is a domineering and manipulative type who has a sidekick/lackey. main guy wants to be a Mexican/latino hip hop star and his sidekick follows along, taking orders and always worshiping his leader. the adventure they have over the evening presented shows their hierarchy and may even involve deception. there are parallels; between them and their victims and proposed victim.

it is a brilliant fable, on the level of classic tales. as a film, it sucks really, really hard. try to see beyond the production quality of the video; the audio is hauntingly brilliant and inspired.
