A 3D animated sketch show from Aardman
atomius22 May 2007
Warning: Spoilers
It was quite a surprise to see this animated sketch comedy from Aardman, the makers of the well known Wallis and Gromit movies and Creature Comforts. I have to say the first series wasn't of the best quality, but it is after all aimed at kids who probably don't know any better, the way we are bombarded with three dimensional shows nowadays. The 'plot' (since it is a sketch show) is quite simple. A group of scenarios take place involving three dimensional characters, most with extreme conditions, like a dinosaur and some Japanese fighting fish. It can't be said it's Aardman's finest, or even theyr'e better works, but i suppose could be entertaining if it was sandwiched imbertween two better shows.

Horrible Warning: Spoilers
I can't believe that this incredibly awful series was produced by Aardman Animations, the same company responsible for wonderful stop-motion films such as "Chicken Run" and the "Wallace & Gromit" shorts.

This series (unlike the stop-motion animations done by that studio) is boring, dumb, ugly, unappealing, poorly animated and also painfully unfunny. I tried to watch a couple of episodes of this drivel, and none of the segments from this terrible series were remotely funny or clever.

"Planet Sketch" is one of the worst animations that I've seen in my entire life, and is one of the worst programs ever made in the entire history of television. My advice is to avoid this series like plague.

0/10 (And I would rate it with a negative score if I could)

This is not Aardman

Don't get me wrong, Aardman can do good with CGI, and the Nick Park designs can work in CGI. I am a fan of Aardman, but this? I remember watching this on Nicktoons Network through Shorts in a Bunch, and I'm surprised it was aired in the same half hour as the Modifyers as part of that show.

It's aggressively unfunny, and ugly as sin. Nothing about this show made me laugh. The writing is edgy in an embarrassing way, the jokes are either generic or ungodly senseless, the characters aren't interesting, there's so much immature humor; seriously, What's so funny about a farting horse? It's worse than Chop Socky Chooks. At least that show (also by Aardman and Decode) had a slight bit of potential, and actually had (with the exception of the chickens) creative vinyl figure designs, but this is just horrible.

I wish I never saw this as a kid.

Liked it as a kid

Watching this now makes me question what kind of stuff I was allowed to watch.

They do know their target audience all too well, I had a blast with this when I was 4 and continued until I was 10. I didn't even notice the lackluster animation or that the skecthes were pretty formulaic. But I do understand why my parents wanted to shut the tv off when this started playing.
