Linc is mugged and a blow to the head leaves him with memory loss. He spends a lot of the episode wandering around skid row and having flashbacks (taken from a couple of earlier episodes).
Amnesia is a tired trope of both sitcoms and crime dramas, and this is a pretty dull episode. The writers try and throw in some spice by way of a big newspaper headline regarding an escaped mental patient. Of course, all the secondary characters suspect Linc as the loony-on-the-lam but this plot device is never actually wrapped up and totally forgotten at the end.
When a derelict musician is knifed in an alley, Linc goes with him to the Emergency room in a scene that is strangely overwritten. Like I said, I don't think there was much of a story here so the episode needed a lot of padding.
The musician's scenes are kind of poignant, otherwise this is not one of the season's best.
