Simultaneously hysterical and heartbreaking
sillycarissa-113 July 2006
The Break falls into the category of well done industry based comedies like Unscripted and Ellie Parker. In just under 10 minutes, The Break captures much of what makes Hollywood magnificent and nasty all at the same time. The actors, especially Joe Nicchi, do an excellent job portraying the absurd reality of Hollywood. The scene in the waiting room of a casting office is particularly dead on. And the ending encapsulates what the break really winds up being for lots of hopefuls in this town. Peter Siesennop's directorial debut was a true accomplishment, he has a clear film style that is refreshing and it will be interesting to see what his next film, which I hear is a drama, is going to look like.
