Ewan McGregor, Hugh Jackman, and Michelle Williams in Deception (2008)

Goofs

Deception

Edit

Continuity

The same taxi, with number 8B42, is taken multiple times in the movie, several days apart.

Factual errors

External auditors are never granted any transactional access to bank accounts. There is no business need to allow such access to an auditor. Additionally, internal fraud controls would require at least two authorized personnel to complete wire transfers (known as "dual control"). One person would not be able to send wires without confirmation by another authorized person confirming the wire.

Revealing mistakes

At the bank in Madrid, when the secretary of the manager checks the appointment in her computer, the text in Spanish is full of grammar mistakes and most of it cannot be in any way related to the banking business. These include the lack of graphic accents, referring to an employee as "Mr. Ruiz" instead of "Sr. Ruiz" and more importantly omitting letters in cases like "Selecion publicaciones" (instead of Selección de publicaciones), "Servcio de reclamiones" (instead of Servicio de Reclamaciones) and "Mr Ruiz" instead of "Sr. Ruiz".
When McQuarry answers the phone in the elevator after he realizes he has Bose's cell phone he looks at it and it is actually still ringing as an incoming call.
Both the passports of Jonathan McQuarry and Wyatt Bose shows the same passport number as 5200136290, same DOBs, and same Date of Issue.
In the narrative of the story, the point is made that the intent of one of the rules of The List is that of anonymity. When McQuarry met the Wall Street Belle (Charlotte Rampling's character), while she herself offers no clues to her identity, she makes no effort to conceal it either. McQuarry easily learns her identity when he sees her portrait on the cover of Forbes magazine.
When Hugh Jackman leaves the offices of the Banco Nacional de San Sebastián and meets with Ewan McGregor, there's a huge visible sign on the door reading "Banco Nacional de San Sebastián". This sign was not there when they arrived to Madrid, as is seen in a sweep starting precisely in the caryatids of that same door.

Errors in geography

Like the goof regarding the #1 train, the #6 train shown clearly at the beginning of the film does not go to Times Square, which is where Jonathon tells S he had seen her.
When Jonathan goes to work on the day he has to transfer the money, he goes into the subway station clearly marked "1" line, when he is standing on the platform with Wyatt as the train doors open the P.A. says, "next stop Park Place" - the station "Park Place" is not served by the "1" line, nor is it anywhere near the station he gets on.
