Synopsis

  • A stranger comes barging into the basement claiming to be Sam's husband. To the basement gang's amusement, Hyde discovers that his marriage is illegal (bigamy): Samantha married Larry (Sam McMurray) before Hyde. Larry was a regular at Sam's club and one day he asked her to marry him. Larry promised to rent her an apartment and buy her a Camaro. Then Sam met Hyde and fell in love with him. She figured that if they leave town, she will never see Larry again. But she kept using Larry's credit cards which is how he was able to easily track her down. Although Sam claims to love only Hyde, he eventually decides to divorce her. Hyde tells Sam that staying together would be a mistake.

Jealous to be the only single girl, Jackie draws up a list of qualities for her 'ideal man', which Donna points out actually describes her dream prince - Fez! The list has stuff like a perfect gentleman, a great sense of humor, interested in women shoes, complements her, buys her presents, comes when she calls. Jackie ridicules Donna at the suggestion. Fez is dating Hillary from the Salon.

Jackie is in denial that Fez is perfect for him and meets her every criterion. Jackie says that she is Beauty and Fez is the Beast. Later, Jackie has a dream about Fez in Beauty and the Beast. Jackie ends up kissing the beast and he turns into a handsome Prince.

Muffler Master is coming to town and Red is afraid that his business won't survive their cutthroat pricing tactics. Muffler Master is a huge chain, and Red's shop is barely scraping by as it is. Kitty advises Red to have a sale event to let the town know that he is still the local guy.

The promotion for his muffler shop goes really badly. No customers turn up even though Kitty has baked muffins as Muffler Master is giving 50% off. Bob wanted Red to hire a promotional monkey to attract customers. Failing that Bob says that Red should convert his shop into an adult bookstore as those places are packed 24 hours a day. Red does not sell a single muffler and instead drives a dozen customers into the hands of the competition. Red knows that he cannot go back out into the job market as it is a young man's game. Kitty suggests that Red consider retiring, but Red says that he cannot afford to retire just yet.

Red has a verbal go at the competition. He drives to the muffler master HQ in Kenosha to have a go at them in person. Red vows not to fold without a fight. Red is offered a fat check to quit and accepts - it's enough to retire. Kitty is beyond happy. She says that Red has fought in 2 wars and has worked his whole life, and deserves to cash in.

Muffler Master plans to turn Red's shop into a parking lot. Hyde never imagined himself divorced at this age and Red never imagined himself retired at his age. They crack open a beer and celebrate.
