Brother Cavills: obviously the 1st Cylon, One version of himself wants to obliterate man, the other version of himself does not want this, and thinks the invasion and pursuit of humans was a total mistake. But when it comes down to it, both versions of himself will do incredibly bad things, even to other Cylons.
Leobens: now this one is a real mystery. An arms runner originally, this was the first Cylon we ever actually meet in the miniseries. He's a real #%*%#, until he becomes obsessed with Kara. There are both good and bad things that come from this obsession. When it comes down to it, when Kara finally admits that Leoben was correct and that she had a destiny, she finally confronts him with the physical manifestations of that prophecy, he becomes frightened and runs away. In the end, he was one of the better Cylons. And every single thing, no matter how small that he said about Kara happened. Of course, this is also due to great and consistent writing.
Simons: The doctor of the group, had no qualms about shoving cattle prods into pregnant women and trying to create hybrid offspring. One of them loved a human woman and her child, and decided to kill himself forever, instead of blowing up the ship that they lived in. However, they always side with the Cavills especially when mean things are to be done.
Dorals: there is absolutely nothing that redeems this particular model, he is utterly and completely disgusting and corrupted. Especially in this pair of episodes.
Sixes: these had a tendency to be good and reasonable: however, some of them would side with Cavills. One of them becomes very important in the fabric of the story. Another one that had been tortured by Cain was the actual reason why the Cylons found New Caprica. Not really her personally, but something that she did.
Boomers/Athenas. Boomers were bad and Athenas were good. If we watch the short, the face of the enemy, we find out that this model is not really good at all, when it comes down to it. Athena turned out to be the exception to the entire line. Boomer could have been the exception, but she was corrupted by the Cavills, especially Cavill number one.
D-Annas: now she is difficult, she has a good heart, but she continuously makes horrible mistakes and shows extremely bad judgment. Even after admitting that she was wrong she will continue to torture people and do other extremely mean things. But she, in fact, is the one that has the direct link to the prophecy. She is the one that pursues it, she is the one who finds out the identities of the final five and she makes a completely bad judgment call when it comes down to asking the humans to help with the final five. She reverts basically to Cylon mode, she wants to force her way. She does not realize there are other ways of doing things, and when she finally does realize this, she makes a decision. But I can't really talk about that, until a group of Cylons and colonists discover the original earth, and there is a while to go before that episode comes up.
As far as what's going on in these episodes here, the Cylons actually wanted to do something good but in pure Cylon form, they totally muck it up, making the colonists despise them even more, which makes it difficult for those Cylons who actually are helping the fleet. And just because the Cylons were mostly the ones making bad calls, does not exclude the humans who were also doing extremely stupid things. Also, there is something that Tom Zarek starts due to the outcome of this Interlude, which causes some people to just not let it go, they want to make everybody else pay except for themselves. This occurs almost immediately after this particular predicament.
